Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim

From the first notes of its vibrant score to the last, West Side Story is one of the greatest musicals and love stories of all time. This landmark Broadway musical is one of the theatre’s finest accomplishments. Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is transported to 1950’s New York City as two idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the “American” Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most heart-wrenching musical dramas of our time. Nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Footlite’s Young Adults production will feature performers ranging in age from 18 to 25. Directed by Kathleen Horrigan.
