"The Will Rogers Follies"

2007 Young Adult Production

Our 2007-2008 season will open with the Young Adults production of “The Will Rogers Follies, A Life in Revue.” Written by Peter Stone with music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the musical reviews the life of famed American humorist Will Rogers through the opulent lens of the Ziegfeld Follies, which he often headlined in his heyday.

Rogers was the biggest, most popular and highest paid star of every existing medium of his time - stage, screen, radio, newspapers and public appearances. At the heart of his populist philosophy was his most famous statement: "I never met a man I didn't like." "The Will Rogers Follies” was the recipient of six Tony Awards in 1991, including Best Musical.

Kathleen Clarke-Horrigan will direct the production featuring performers ranging in age from 18 to 25. The production will run July 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22, 2007.

Open auditions are held in May for interested performers ages 18 to 25. Participants must be high school graduates in 2007.

Past Young Adults Productions have included: FOOTLOOSE, THE SECRET GARDEN, SEUSSICAL, RAGTIME, GODSPELL, THE WIZ, BIG RIVER, CHILDREN OF EDEN, DAMN YANKEES, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, and A CHORUS LINE.
